Questions about the Triple P – positive parenting program
What is positive parenting?
Positive parenting is an approach to parenting that equips parents and caregivers with tools and strategies to create a safe, loving, and predictable environment for their child. The Triple P positive parenting program allows individuals to determine what is important to them. Instead of dictating how to raise children, it builds confidence and skills to establish healthy relationships, set boundaries and rules calmly and effectively, and apply appropriate consequences.
In a nutshell, Triple P helps you:
- Raise happy, confident, and capable kids
- Foster a close and loving relationship with your child
- Gain a deeper understanding of child development to make parenting more enjoyable and easier
- Encourage positive behavior
- Effectively prevent and manage misbehavior while supporting children’s emotional well-being
- Establish respected rules and routines
- Feel less stressed and calmer
- Feel more equipped to handle various parenting situations, knowing you’re doing what’s best for your kids.
Where does Triple P come from?
The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program is based in Australia, specifically at the University of Queensland’s Parenting and Family Support Centre, under the guidance of Foundation Director Professor Matt Sanders. Professor Sanders is renowned as one of the world’s leading experts on parenting. Today, researchers from various universities and institutions worldwide contribute to the development of new Triple P programs. As a result, Triple P has the most extensive evidence base of any parenting program globally.
Is Triple P effective?
Triple P is among the few parenting programs with a proven track record. Numerous trials and studies have demonstrated its efficacy for most families, across different cultures and family dynamics. Triple P Online is also the first online parenting program to be scientifically validated. In regions where the program is not available for free, it can be purchased with a money-back guarantee.

What are Triple P Online programs?
To accommodate busy schedules in the digital age, Triple P offers interactive, self-paced online courses. Triple P Online covers all of Triple P’s positive parenting strategies for parents and caregivers of children under 12. The program consists of eight modules comprising videos, worksheets, tips, and activities that are both educational and enjoyable.
For parents of teenagers, we offer Teen Triple P Online, a course specifically designed for pre-teens and teens aged 10-16 years. This program covers all of Teen Triple P’s strategies through six modules, each taking approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. It includes a mix of videos, worksheets, tips, and activities.
Additionally, Fear-Less Triple P Online is available for parents and caregivers of kids aged 6 and above who often experience anxiety.
How long will it take to complete an online course?
Each module of Triple P Online typically takes between 30 minutes to an hour. You can choose to complete the modules in one sitting or break them up into smaller time blocks, such as ten or fifteen minutes per day. With 8 modules in Triple P Online, you could finish the program in about a month by completing one or two modules per week. However, you have the flexibility to set your own pace. You can take breaks, revisit previous modules, or adjust your learning speed depending on your preference.
Should both parents do the course?
While it is ideal for both parents to participate, it is not essential. Many single parents have successfully utilized Triple P. When both parents or a parent and another caregiver complete the program, it enables them to work together as a team to implement positive changes. This includes involving grandparents, foster parents, extended family members, and even ex-partners who share childcare responsibilities. It facilitates better communication, reduces arguments and disagreements, and enhances mutual support. If you want both parents to have individual workbooks and certificates, please request two access codes.
Can Triple P help grandparents, foster parents, and other caregivers?
Absolutely! The principles of Triple P apply to anyone involved in caring for children. Grandparents and other caregivers often benefit from participating in Triple P programs. When both parents and grandparents embrace Triple P strategies, it promotes family harmony and consistency in parenting approaches.
What languages are the online programs available in?
Currently, Triple P Online is available in English, Dutch/Flemish, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, and Japanese.
Shouldn’t parenting come naturally?
Just as we wouldn’t get behind the wheel of a car without some lessons, parenting is a crucial job that deserves knowledge and guidance. Despite our best intentions, most of us raise our kids without fully knowing the most effective strategies. Often, we rely on fragmented lessons from our parents, friends, or Google. However, Professor Matt Sanders, the clinical psychologist whose research forms the foundation of Triple P, believes that parenting is the most important job in the world. After decades of working with families worldwide, he recognizes that parents and caregivers universally share similar goals: raising healthy, happy children, reducing stress, and seeking practical tips to achieve these goals more efficiently.
I don’t want to do a course. Can you provide some tips?
As a parenting program grounded in scientific research, our aim is to provide information that genuinely makes a difference in the lives of parents and caregivers. Our research indicates that individuals achieve optimal results from Triple P when they participate in a guided program, either with a provider or through a systematic online course. Quick tips often fail to yield long-term results. However, we offer a glimpse into Triple P with our “hot parenting topics.” We encourage you to explore Triple P’s concepts and principles, as we believe it is worth taking the time to approach parenting effectively. After all, it benefits both your child and yourself!
